Many countries, including the United States, have come forward to help India as the covid-19 cases continue to grow in India.
Pressure is mounting from various quarters on US President Joe Biden to send corona vaccine, as well as other medical supplies, to India, as the country is battling the coronavirus epidemic.
Indian dignitaries in the superpower country and Indians in Biden’s team are urging the government to support India in a precarious situation.
“The United States has a lot of sympathy for the people of India,” said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. She told a news conference on Friday that she was in talks with Indian officials, politicians, and health experts on how to help alleviate the Covid-19 crisis. She said their biggest goal ahead was to provide vaccine support to India.
“We have been helping India since the covid-19 pandemic came to light. Health personnel were trained to deal with the coronavirus along with medical devices such as ventilators. We also provide $ 140 billion in financial assistance to deal with future health disasters and the current coronavirus situation,” she explained.
US President Joe Biden’s Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci said conditions in India were dire. He said cases were surging in India like no other country in the world and the people of India needed to be vaccinated.
