U.S. could see wreckage due to the 5G crisis

The CEO of US passenger and cargo carriers warned on Monday that 5G services being set up in the US could disrupt flights. CEOs of major airlines have alerted the government about the impending “catastrophic” aviation crisis as AT&T and Verizon prepare to launch new 5G services together. Airlines have warned that the new C-band, which uses 5G technology, could disrupt air services and cause confusion over flights.
The chief executives of American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines wrote: “If the ground is not cleared for our planes to fly, the people on the planes will be stranded everywhere.” The FAA warns that these 5G signals could affect sensitive aircraft equipment such as altimeters and affect visual performance.

Companies indicate that more than 1,100 flights are likely to be frozen. “The country is free to trade,” said Brian Deese, director of the White House National Economic Council, Pete Buttigieg, secretary of transport, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) administrator Steve Dixon, and chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Government agencies did not immediately comment on the letter. AT&T, which won $ 80 billion in total C-band spectrum last year, has agreed to extend the 5G network expansion by two weeks to focus on Verizon aviation security. After talking to the governments it is possible to explore alternatives without setting up 5G towers in America.
At some key airports, airlines are demanding that “5G be implemented everywhere in the country except within about 2 miles (3.2 km) of the airport run”.
