After the decades of wait, we have reached the day where our faith has finally come to fruition in the form of Ram Mandir in Ayodha. It would be wrong to state this event of Bhoomi Pujan for the establishment of Ram Mandir just as an achievement as this has definitely made a mark in the history of India. The highly anticipated glory of Ram Mandir is a victory for all those people who have believed in it and have put in their continuous efforts to upheld the culture of India without even bothering about any fruitful outcomes. One such group of people is the Sompuras who waited for 30 long years for their dream of building Ram Mandir to come true.
This celebration is not just about any religion, any party, and politics, it is about showcasing the traditions and culture of India which is also known as “Hindustan” to the entire world. One who has love, emotions, and sentiments involved for its own religion will surely respect and value other religions. It’s very simple if anyone cannot take the pride of its own being will never be able to serve the world. Loving one can never bring hatred for others it is all about co-existence in harmony. What is more appreciable is the fact that after such a long wait the victory is not just of building Ram Mandir but the celebration of peaceful co-existence of secularism in India, that has been attained amicably within Indian jurisdiction law.
The historic event showcases the success of India’s longest campaigns, one that found resonance with millions of people around the world.
Bhoomi Pujan Ceremony Of Ram Mandir- By PM Narendra Modi
The Bhoomi Pujan of Ram Mandir has been concluded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by laying the foundation stone at the divine site of Ayodha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji started his devotional tour first by offering prayers to Lord Hanuman in the Hanuman Garhi Temple. From there, he headed to the “Shree Ram Janmabhoomi”, he planted the sacred tree ‘Parijat‘ there and offered prayers at the “Bhagwan Shree Ramlala Virajman“. Then PM Modi Ji took part in the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony where he laid the foundation brick. Nine bricks from around the world were sent by devotees that were laid in the foundation ceremony. Water from more than 100 holy rivers and soil from more than 2000 pilgrimage sites were used for the rituals.
Beginning of The Grandeur Construction of Ram Mandir By Sompuras
Now as the foundation laying program is completed by PM Narendra Modi, this will mark the beginning of the construction of the much-dignified and the grandeur Ram Mandir in Ayodha. This construction designs will be carried out by the Sompuras. Sompuras is the architects that have been building temples for generations now.
Chandrakant Sompura, 77, visited the site of Ram Mandir 30 years back with the then-president Ashok Singhal of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, VHP.
The Sompura family has to date built 200 temples from 15 generations across the globe including the Somnath temple at Prabhas Patan and Akshardham. For the family, it is the Somnath temple that is closest to their heart. Even for them, the Ram Mandir project is the longest architectural project they have been part of.
Sompuras- The Master of Temple Architecture
The Sompuras are from Palitana town of Bhavnagar who has settled in Ahmedabad for their architectural works. One of their ancestor ‘Ramji‘ raised a Jain Temple on the Shetrunjay hills of Palitana where one of the main entrance gates is named after ‘Ramji‘ as “Ram Pol”.
The Sompuras consider them as residents of the moon as the name “Som” means “Moon” and “Pura” mean “City“. They believe the art of architecting temple has come from their ancestors who were themselves taught by the divine architect Lord Vishwakarma.
Chandrakant Sompura said he never went to any architectural school, whatever he has learned it is from his father and Grandfather and the shastras. Though he did make his sons study engineering and get trained in architect designs.
30 Years of Long Wait To Re-Build Indian History by Chandrakant Sompura
The family was approached three decades ago with the proposal to build Ram Mandir. Ashok Singhal, the then president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) called upon Chandrakant Sompura to Delhi to discuss this project. He also went to Ayodha 30 years back to see and analyze the land of construction. Due to high security on the disputed land, he was not allowed to carry any instruments for measurement. He measured the area with his footsteps and prepared the first master plan. The first plan that was designed was like any other ancient Hindu temple, later the plans have been improvised a lot of time keeping the first as the base plan.
The in-between period of the wait was a very diabolic one they almost lost their hope to built the temple in Ayodha. It was the happiest day for the 77-year-old Chandrakant Sompura when in last year November, the Supreme Court gave its verdict on Ram Mandir. This cleared the way for Chandrakant and his sons to fulfill his dreams of building the Ram Mandir.
Vision and Plan of Ram Mandir
Ashish and Nikhil Sompura, sons of the Chandrakant Sompura are taking care of their legacy business with the supervision of their father. They both are civil engineers and are well trained in architectural work. But, the real guidance and teaching do come from their father, Chandrakant Sompura, who even at this very age gives them home works and asses them every day. Lately, the duo with the guidance of their father submitted a new plan keeping in mind the vastness of the project. This time the proposed plan is double the size of the original plan, to match up the envision of having around 40 lakh footfalls in a year. It is also estimated the grand temple will have around 15000 walk-ins at a time. So the structure should be that grand and massive enough to accommodate everything composedly.
There were multiple plans made for the project and the final plan has received its consent from the Sants of Kumb. The plan is also made following the Vastu shastra as well. The Sompuras will be closely working with Larsen & Turbo, who has been given the project of building, construction, and civil engineering works of the Ram Mandir.
The temple is designed to be 161-feet long with three-storeyed pile height. As per the final proposed plan, the temple will have one shikhara and five-domed mandaps and will be modeled in a primary temple architectural style of north India known as Nagara style. A memorial will also be constructed as honorary to all the kar sevaks who have lost their lives for this establishment.
