Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra did wonders at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Neeraj Chopra, who had an outstanding performance as part of the javelin throw final, bagged the gold alone. Neeraj, who was in the top position by throwing 87.03 meters in the first round, dominated the second round as well. This time he threw 87.58 meters and recorded the best of the season.
He then threw 76.79m in the third round but remained in first place with a clear lead in the first two rounds. He failed to throw in the fourth and fifth rounds and finally finished with 84.24 in the sixth round. He won the gold with the best performance of the season at 87.58 overall. Neeraj Chopra became the second player to bring gold to India in the individual event. Abhinav Bindra won India’s first gold in the shooting category at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Neeraj Chopra is the first Indian to get a medal at Olympics in athletics. Previously Milkha Singh and PT Usha missed their Olympics medal by finishing in 4th position in the running.
Neeraj Chopra was born on December 24, 1997, in Kandara village in the Panipat district of Haryana. He Graduated from DAV College, Chandigarh, Neeraj was selected for the Indian Army at an early age. He is currently serving as a Subedar in the Indian Army. Neeraj, who made history by throwing 88.06 meters in the javelin throw final at the 2018 Asian Games, became a one-time hero by winning gold.
