A Massive Explosion Shook Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port

A huge explosion took place in Dubai on Wednesday at midnight. The sudden explosion in Jebel Ali Port shook the area. The accident happened at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, one of the largest ports in the world.

 A big spark could be identified, followed by a loud explosion which was heard 35 km far.

Information was received by the firefighters who battled with the scorching flame for half an hour to bring the fire under control. There were no casualties, according to the officers.

The explosion hit shortly after midnight in front of a U.S. military base. Although, the cause of the accident is unclear.

 According to the officials, the vessel was carrying around 130 containers, out of which three had flammable materials. Further adding, they said there was no proof of explosives found.

Locals near the port said the explosion caused loud noises. Even those 35 kilometers away could feel the intensity of the explosion.

The occurrence has caused at least three homeowners in the explosion area; they reported their windows and doors were shaking due to the intensity of the explosion.

“A fire was brought under control following an explosion in a container on a Jebel Ali port ship, no casualties recorded,” the Dubai media office posted on Twitter. “No, casualties reported.”  The ship was getting ready to dock, added the office in another post.

The tweet was followed by the firefighter’s video tackling fires on a big container-packed vessel, similar except their logos, as fire dispersed the deposits on the dock.

A correspondent on the site told that aircraft were circling the area jammed with smoke.

According to the US Congressional Research Service, the port is competent to manage aircraft carriers and was the busiest port of call outside the US in 2017.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the Port Authority stated that it “takes all necessary precautions to guarantee normal transport of port ships without any disruption.”

These events are rare in the ultra-secure Gulf Emirate, one of the seven in the rich UAE.

The Jabel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) has 8000 firms, contributing 23% of the gross domestic product of Dubai last year. It is the greatest trading area in the Middle East.

Dubai’s Gulf emirate has become a major travel, trading, and financial services center for 50 years; from a modest port town, it went on to become the business hub.

More than three million people, mainly immigrants, currently live in the city-state compared with just 15,000 individuals in the 50s.
