A Mass Shooting At A Train Yard In San Jose, 10 People Found Dead Including The suspect, The Victims Have Been Identified

Eight people were killed in a mass shooting by a gunman in San Jose, California on Wednesday which is said to be the biggest shooting of the year. Many were injured in the shooting with at least 10 dead.

 Sam Cassidy, 57, a maintenance worker of the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), which provides bus and light rail services in Silicon Valley, Samuel Cassidy, was identified as the shooter by sources.

 Around 6.30 am on Wednesday, Cassidy suddenly opened fire in the San Jose railway yard. A total of 8 people, including his colleagues, were beheaded. Cassidy also shot himself.

According to law enforcement authorities, the gunman set his house on fire before driving to a Valley Transportation Authority union meeting and opening fire. The victims were shot in two different buildings, according to officials.

Taptejdeep Singh, 36; Adrian Balleza, 29; Jose Dejesus Hernandez III, 35; Timothy Michael Romo, 49; Michael Joseph Rudometkin, 40; Abdolvahab Alaghmandan, 63; and Lars Kepler Lane, 63.

One of the victims who was seriously injured was rushed to the hospital but the victim did not survive the injury, officials confirmed the death of a ninth victim, Alex Ward Fritch, 49, who died Wednesday night at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

After meeting with families of the victims, Governor Gavin Newsom said there is a “sameness and numbness” to these tragedies at a news briefing Wednesday afternoon, and wondered when the shootings will stop.

“What the hell is going on in the United States of America?” you might wonder. What the hell is the matter with us? And when will we be able to deal with this?” he stated

According to public records, Cassidy had worked at the light rail yard for at least eight years.

According to a law enforcement source, Cassidy shot nearly everyone on the morning shift, including several people with whom he had previously worked.

Cassidy married in 1994 and divorced in 2005, according to court documents. Cassidy was given a restraining order against a former 45-year-old girlfriend in April 2009, which The New York Times is not naming because she is the victim of alleged sexual abuse.

Cassidy stated that in 2008, his ex-girlfriend grabbed him, intimidated him, and promised to contact his work to get him fired but it was indeed the opposite.

Cassidy’s ex’s attorney has provided proof about Cassidy’s behavior the attorney claims that Cassidy was bi-polar and often abused his girlfriend.

California is recognized for its severe gun restrictions, but it has been unable to avoid the worldwide outbreaks of gun crime.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, the San Jose incident was the 231st  mass shooting in the United States in 2021.
