A warning was given by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to the people of Mumbai.
Covid-19 cases are still alarming in the financial capital of the country, Mumbai, as corona cases are declining sharply in all states across the country and normal life is slowly but surely taking place.
The Shiv Sena party magazine Saamna said in its editorial that the corona situation in Maharashtra was serious and alarming.
Corona cases are on the rise in all the 14 districts of the state. In the last week since January, 3,000 cases have come to light in a single day across Maharashtra.
The second week of February saw a 14 percent increase in cases compared to the first week.
Mumbai and Pune account for the highest number of cases registered across the state. It is followed by Nagpur, Thane, and Amravati.
Although the corona situation in the state has not yet received a red signal, a yellow warning has been issued.
Dr. Shashank Joshi, a member of the state covid-19 Task Force, commented that if action is not taken now, the alarm bells would not ring long.
On the other hand, CM Thackeray, who conducted a review with the authorities, warned that the lockdown would be resorted to if the lockdown rules were not followed.
Reasons for increasing covid-19 cases?
People are already ignorant and living life thinking that the coronavirus has vanished from the face of the earth. They are not wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance, and sanitizing.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has said that since April last year, 15 lakh people who roamed in public without wearing masks have been fined and over Rs, 30 crores have been collected in form of a fine.
Local trains in Mumbai have been running between the restrictions since February 1.
In the first fortnight alone, 3,000 passengers were fined for turning up without masks. The number of cases in Mumbai has been rising at an average of a thousand per day in the past week.
The recent panchayat elections are also believed to be the reason for the increase in corona cases. In areas like Vidarbha and Marathwada, more than 80 percent of polling was recorded.
The rate of corona positive cases has increased by 33 percent in Amravati district in the same area, said Dr. Pradeep Awate, an official of the state covid-19 team.
In Sasurve village, where there are only 199 people, 62 new cases came to light after the panchayat elections.
People who have postponed weddings and other family celebrations due to the covid-19 for the past year have increased the number of corona cases in the new year by holding large-scale functions and turning in groups.
