The Delhi Capitals franchise has once again taken a bold decision in terms of 2021 IPL captaincy.
The reins were handed over to 23-year-old Rishabh Pant, sidelining seniors and cricketers with captaincy experience.
The team franchise has recently appointed Rishabh Pant as the captain of the Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2021 season.
Shreyas Iyer the previous captain of Delhi Capitals was recently injured while playing the ODI series against England when he dived at the boundary line to stop the ball. His entire body weight fell on his left shoulder with that Shreyas’ shoulder was displaced.
Shreyas Iyer, is set to undergo surgery for the injury in April, will be out of the game for at least 4-5 months. With that, the captaincy post fell into Pant’s lap for IPL 2021.
Many names were heard in the Delhi Capitals captaincy race.
In particular, senior Delhi Captial opener Shikhar Dhawan, former Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin and former Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith was in the race.
But 23-year-old Rishabh Pant, who has no experience as a captain, bet them all to it and has grabbed the captaincy position.
The appointment of Pant as the captain of the Delhi franchise has everyone surprised.
It is known that Rishabh Pant has been playing sensational innings in all three formats.

Rishabh Pant has been playing in the IPL since 2016, he has played 68 matches so far, and has scored 2,079 runs with a strike rate of 151.97. This includes one century and 12 half-centuries.
Twitter went frenzy last night after the announcement of Rishab Pant’s captaincy.
