US Vice President Kamala Harris has said that the situation in India has become ” tragic” as the covid-19 pandemic is spreading rapidly. She reiterated her full support for the people of India in meeting this challenge.
She recently spoke to the media in Cincinnati, Ohio. “There is no question that it is a great tragedy, in terms of the loss of life, and as I have said before, and I will say again, we as a country have made a commitment to the people of India to support them,”
Kamala Harris also added dollars have already been allocated for PPE kits and several other things. It’s tragic, though. I pray for the people in the situation, on the obvious plight that is happening.
Recently, the White House declared travel restrictions from India because of “the exceptionally high Covid-19 cases”.
Kamala Harris said she had not spoken to any of her family members in India after the restrictions were announced.

Upon the advice of Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said travel restrictions on India would take effect on May 4.
“In the light of Covid-19’s extremely high caseloads and the various variants circulating in India, the policy will be enforced,” Psaki said in a statement.
