India Bullish on 5G Networks says Ericsson Report

As per the recently published Ericsson Report that says India by 2027 is set to have around 500 Million 5G subscribers. With such estimates, it is very clear that India is set to become completely digitized in near future along with upcoming evolutionary next-gen technologies. 

The introduction of 5G technology in India is set to make history in terms of the number of mobile subscribers with estimates as high as 50 crore active subscribers by 2027. Ericsson, a leading telecom gear producer said that such promising numbers would make around 39 percent of the total market share in terms of active mobile subscribers.

By December the number of active smartphone users in India is set to reach 81 crores thereby indicating positive signs for the digital India initiative. The number of active smartphone users is expected to grow to 120 crores in the next six years. Currently, 4G users form an active base ranging from 79 crores to 71 crores. With the introduction of 5G technology, the current share of 4G subscribers is set to drop by 13 percent that is from 68 to 55 percent.

  Globally speaking, As of now 5G users form about 50 percent of the total network subscribers. This international number accounts for about 62 percent of active smartphone users. Such unprecedented growth was a result of the higher-than-expected emerging and established tech market demands from China and North America. 

Mobile-data traffic has exponentially grown around 300-fold since 2011 indicating higher demand in global markets. The current 5G network is set to reach over 200 crore people by December 2021 along with the total mobile network data traffic reaching 370 exabytes by the end of 2027, said Ericsson’s report.
