India has currently surpassed England but stands behind China in the recently published Hrurun Unicorn List. But India tops the list of the unicorn countries against all odds and speculations.
As per the recently published Hurun Unicorn List and Report, India has been ranked 3rd thereby surpassing Britain.Due to the sheer number of promising startups in India, that turned up to be unicorn startup companies.
India has steadily moved up to 3rd position in the list of countries.This feat was made possible because of the fact that this year another 33 new startups initiated, sustained, and finally grew into unicorns.
Speaking about Unicorns, Globally companies that have a current valuation of $ 1 billion (approximately Rs. 7,500 crores) are treated as unicorns. As per the last year’s report, India was fourth in this regard of unicorn definition.

With more number of startups converting into Unicorns. This year, India has seen a sharp rise in unicorn numbers with Unicorns amounting to 54 in 2021. On the contrary, Britain has registered just 15 new companies that have managed to become Unicorn startups along with a total number of 39 Unicorns for the year 2021.
These strategic and important findings are based on a report by the Hurun Research Institute. As per the report, the United States and China continue to top the list of upcoming unicorn list with India claiming the third spot.
If the same trend continues, India will surely surpass China in the next year’s Unicorn startup list.With 254 newly started unicorn startups, America has retained its number one spot in the list with a total number of 487 unicorn startups this year.
With the introduction of another 74 more promising startup unicorn companies in China, the total number of Unicorn startups has reached 301 in China. Thereby enabling China to claim the second spot on the list. Contribution from the first 2 countries when put together accounts for 74 percent of the total unicorn world.
