Essential Goods Sales take a Hit

Grocery Sales have plummeted down due to the third wave scare. As of now, the number of corona cases are surging in India. In the wake of the Third Wave scare. sanctions, curfews, and weekend lockdowns have already begun in many states and districts. Due to which sales of essentials are taking a huge hit at the moment. 

Currently, vaccination is on the rise, with this it was hoped that the daily essential business, dry fruits business, along with essential commodities, would flourish and grow exponentially. Previously all the grocery sales have risen sharply since October, thereby reaching a record high in mid-December.

In addition to this, traders and wholesalers expect the wedding and festive seasons to come together to increase the demands and consumption in local markets thereby finally increasing the sales numbers.

Unexpectedly, however, due to the increasing cases of omicron variant and associated new active cases is harshly hurting the sales of essential commodities across the country.

Also, sales of no-supply convenience stores plummeted sharply. With covid restrictions in place, certain goods are not allowed from wholesale to stores and small marts. On the contrary, the arrival and launch of new vehicles is being badly deadly due to the existing strict covid restrictions.

This situation is similar in many states and districts, right from wholesale shops to small-scale grocery stores. But there is no shortage of supply from big wholesale markets to lower market stores and stalls.

 But there is no queuing situation in front of retail shops. With these recent development sales are set to continue to be high at many places and locations.

As out-of-stock boards are often visible on many stores on some products as fresh freight supply networks are disrupted. However, in a display of malpractices, some retailers are still selling expired products. 

In small shops and stalls, customers are buying products without looking at their expiry date. Therefore, health experts warn the general public to be careful and check the major details like expiration at least once.
