Covid-19: French President Emmanuel Macron sends a message of solidarity to India

France along with many other countries are standing as true friends to India, assisting aid while the country is battling the deadly virus.

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he will extend his full support to India, which is reeling from the Covid-19 boom.

Mr. Macron went to post on Facebook in Hindi, referring to India, saying, “Let us win together.” France said on Tuesday that it would soon send oxygen generators, liquid oxygen containers, ventilators, other medical equipment, and medicines to India by sea and air later this week as part of the fight against covid-19.

“There is a shortage of facilities for Covid-19 treatment in India. We will help you to overcome this medical emergency completely. The two countries have always been an ally in the past during difficult times, we are ready to help India,” said France.

Each oxygen generator sent by France is capable of providing a continuous supply of oxygen to a 250-bed hospital for ten years. In addition, five liquid oxygen containers will be sent.

They are capable of delivering oxygen to up to 10,000 patients per day. 200 electric syringe pumps and 28 ventilators will reach India.

Ireland

Ireland announced on Tuesday that it would send 700 oxygen concentrators to India. The Irish embassy said that the oxygen concentrators will be sent to India by Wednesday morning along with Ventilators. 

Australia

On Tuesday Australia announced that it would send 500 ventilators, millions of surgical and protective masks, special goggles, and face shields to help India battle against the deadly coronavirus.

Australia, meanwhile, has said it will suspend direct flights from India until May 15. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said he will review the situation after May 15 and decide whether to resume air services.

Medical Assistance to India from EU Members

European Union (EU) member states Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Sweden are also providing assistance to India.

The EU said in a statement on Tuesday that several member states, including Germany, were involved in helping India. Belgium is shipping 9,000 doses of Remdesivir.

Sweden is shipping 120 ventilators. Romania will supply 80 oxygen concentrators and 75 oxygen cylinders. Luxembourg will send 58 ventilators, and 20,000 liters of oxygen per week from Portugal to India. 

The state of California

The United States, which is been helping India ever since the pandemic, has also come forward to help India.

The Governor of California has announced that 275 oxygen concentrators, 440 oxygen cylinders, 240 oxygen regulators, pulse oximeters, and a deployable oxygen concentrator system (DOCS) capable of delivering 120 liters of oxygen per minute will be sent to India.
