The White House Chief Medical Advisory Officer to the United States, DR. Anthony Fauci, has said that the covaxin, developed by Bharat biotech company developed with indigenous technology, is effectively blocking the country’s double mutant B.1.617 variant.
He said on Tuesday that their study had revealed covaxin to be the most effective way to prevent the second wave of coronavirus B.1.617, which has twice been genetically modified in the country.
DR. Fauci said data was collected from those who had taken the covid-19 vaccination- covaxin in India and had been examined, and the reports showed that antibodies were developed in people’s bodies to fight against the B.1.617 mutant.
In India, vaccination should be made mandatory to prevent the second wave.
The vaccine, jointly developed by the Hyderabad-based Indian biotech company and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and the National Institute of Virology was approved for emergency use from January 3.
Research has shown that the vaccine is 78 percent effective. A study by the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) revealed that along with Covaxin, Covishield, which is manufactured by the Serum Institute, is also effective in fighting against a new double mutant coronavirus in India.
The Covshield vaccine could reduce the spread of the virus by 50 percent. A study in The Public Health England (PHE) found that 38 to 49 percent of those who take a single dose of the vaccine did not spread the virus to other family members.
If we look at the details of the 10lakh people in 24,000 households who have been vaccinated, the threat from those who have not been vaccinated is higher than the number of people who have not been vaccinated.
Those who took the vaccine were able to block up to 50 percent of cases in each household. If someone in the house is infected with the covid-19 we often see that the other members in the household also get infected.
India double mutant Coronavirus B.1.617 has also spread to 17 countries, according to the World Health Organization.
Most cases in Britain, the USA, and Singapore are found to be from the Indian mutant covid-19 virus. The WHO said the details came from a company that collects and stores data on genetic mutations related to viruses.
