India-China border issue has remained under heavy tension for nearly 11 months.
China is now changing its course, with reports of disengagement first from Pangong Lake and elsewhere. China is emphasizing the words and preaching about ‘cooperation’, ‘humanity’ now.
BRICS 2021
India will chair the BRICS- Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa summit for the year 2021 and will organize the conference. On 19 February, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar launched the BRICS 2021 website at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi.
On Monday, China supported the BRICS conference which is to be held in India, saying that it would “strengthen cooperation in various fields” with India and other member countries.
If the situations arising from the Covid-19 pandemic are brought under control in the next few months, the Chinese President Xi Jinping will even possibly visit India for the BRICS summit.
Xi Jinping’s arrival to India will most possibly end up meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday that China attaches great importance to BRICS and is in favor of expanding the strategic partnership through it.
BRICS is now a positive, stable, and creative force in international affairs. China said that it wanted to strengthen solidarity and cooperation between BRICS countries.
Support for holding summit wants to increase cooperation with India
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said in a media briefing that Beijing would support the summit hosted by India in New Delhi and said that it will work closely with New Delhi to strengthen the group of five countries with an emerging economy.
Wang Wenbin commented that BRICS is a system of cooperation with the global influence of emerging economies and developing countries.
We all know the situation on the border for the past 11 months, how china has started claiming the Indian land to be theirs, and the border dispute has been increasing ever since.
When asked if this situation would affect the summit the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said, “China supports India organizing BRICS conference this year. (China) wants to increase dialogue and cooperation with India and other BRICS countries in various fields.” The economy also seeks to strengthen the ‘three-wheeled initiative’ of politics and humanity. “
Wang also stated that “BRICS is the cooperation mechanism of new market countries and developing countries with global impact. In a few years, the solidarity of BRICS countries is increasing, the practical cooperation is deepening and the effect is increasing continuously, now it has become a positive, stable, and constructive force in international affairs, and China is committed to strengthening the strategic partnership to increase mutual solidarity and cooperation within the organization.”

China trying to subdue the situation
Since May 2020, there has been extreme military tension between India and China in East Ladakh, although both countries have now insisted on ending the military deadlock and moving the talks forward.
Chinese troops have returned from some places in eastern Ladakh and China is all set to attend the conference of BRICS countries held in India.
As per the agreement between the military commanders of the two countries, efforts are being made to restore the pre-tension situation on the border.
However, the Indian army and the government are carefully watching every step of China with hawkeye.
This not only applies to the defense sector but the strategy has also been adopted in the business and political sectors. Large proposals of foreign direct investment (FDI) from China will be closely examined.
A Coordination Committee has also been formed for this purpose.
