American pop star and actor Britney Spears addressed the Los Angeles open court judge on Wednesday, June 23. Britney has finally broke her silence after 13 years; she told the Court how the Conservatorship has left her traumatized and how it has taken her right to have children or getting married.
She begged the Court to end her Conservatorship at the end of the emotional 20-minute statement. Explaining how Conservatorship has enabled her father, Jamie Spears, to take away all her money and civil rights and how he had ruined her life and that he should not be released from prison.
“I just want my life back, It’s enough. I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does,” she said in her video statement
Britney has filed a lawsuit in the California High Court seeking to have her father, Jamie, removed from her custody.
Arguments over the petition took place on Wednesday. Britney expressed her anger at how her father, Jamie Spears, was forcibly appointed as her guardian and ruined her life thereafter.
“Every day, I feel like hell because of him. He made me work for hours against my will. He enjoyed all the money and status. Not even one-third of my earnings were given to my expenses. Everything from my phone to valuable cards remained under his control. He used to inject me with lithium every day. He kept me away from my children. My hopes of getting married again and starting a new life were dashed. His care has done me more harm than good. In a way, it is the equivalent of ‘sex trafficking. “I just want my life back,” Britney pleaded with the judge in tears.
Fans have been supporting Britney in this case from the beginning. The rally was also held outside the Court on Wednesday as part of the Free Britney Movement.
Fans chanted outside the Court as long as the arguments were going on. Jamie Spears, however, responded lightly to the daughter’s petition. His lawyer released a statement on behalf of Jamie stating that she was not forced to have a guardian, but considering the situation, Jamie Spears volunteered and that her allegations were false.
Britney Spears, 39, married Jason in 2004 and divorced months later. She later married American rapper Kevin Federline and divorced three years later.
Britney, who has been in her father’s care since then, is suffering from mental health problems.
She also took to Instagram, apologizing to her fans for pretending to be okay.
