7 Best Thriller Movies Of Bollywood

Is there anyone who does not love to watch thriller movies? I feel a thriller movie is a perfect blend of scary but not so scary movies. What I mean is, it will surely give you anxiety but won’t give you near to heart attack experience, which is sure to happen in case of horror movies.

There are many people like me who can endlessly keep on watching thriller movies and build up a suspectful world around yourself. In my case sometimes when the list of thriller movies gets over I switch to my personal childhood favorite thrillers CID and Crime Patrols. Quite a crazy right???

Anyways when we talk about thrillers movies, we basically do not count on Bollywood thriller much. There are a very handful number of Bollywood thriller movies that will leave a lasting mark. This is might be because of the lack of gripping content or the way of presentation to captivate the audience.

For me, the word thriller movies take me straight to Alfred Hitchcock movies, who is the Master of Suspense Thriller. Though I am not an expert, I personally think no movie can match up the intensity and anxiety level of Alfred Hitchcock’s pieces, that will always keep you at the edge of your seat.

Thanks to the lockdown, after revisiting all the Hitchcock movies once again, I started exploring the thriller movies of Bollywood. There were already some really good thrillers from Bollywood but to my surprise, I got some more amazing thriller movies which will totally blow your mind.

Top 7 Thriller Movies Of Bollywood

So, here I made a list of some outstanding thriller movies of Bollywwod for all the thriller movie maniacs. Let’s check those out;

Kahani

I know about 90% of the Bollywood movie maniac have watched and loved this movie. But I won’t be able to start this list without mentioning this masterpiece. This Sujoy Ghosh directorial suspense thriller movie Kahani with Vidya Balan in lead is way beyond any complements. The climax of the movie is said to be one of the best climaxes of Indian cinema. The spell of the movie is such, even though you have watched the movie and know the climax you will experience the same thrill when you watch it again.

Samay: When The Time Strikes

It is another acing thriller movie by debut direction Robby Grewal and Sushmita Sen in lead. The movie is all about solving three connecting murder mysteries which is somewhat of a cat and rat race between the cop and the Killer. The movie is sure to keep you glued until all tangled knots of the murder are unfolded. The climax is somewhat weak as compared to the story but it does justify being watched for more than once.

Manorama Six Feet Under

This is a tantalizing thriller movie directed by Navdeep Singh with Abhay Deol playing the lead as a detective. Abhay Deol a not so successful detective gets a simple assignment from a mystery lady, which gets more and more complicated with the proceeding case followed by unexpected murders and hunting. How the amateur detective unveils the case is worth the watch especially for Abhay Deol’s performance.

Talaash

This is another spectacular Bollywood neo thriller movie directed by Reema Kagti starring Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee, and Kareena. Aamir here plays the role of a police officer investigating a high profile murder case. The officer himself is tangled with his personal loss and his involvement in solving this murder case takes him to the shady mysterious curtains of red light area. The journey of his investigation is worth a watch with incredible talents together on screen. Here again, the climax is unimaginable.

Drishyam

It is a promising murder mystery directed by Nishikant Kamat starring Ajay Devgan in lead. This movie I have watched it several times and every time it gives me the same chills. It is a suspense thriller but it is more of an intelligence-driven mystery. The movie is triggered when Ajay Devgan’s family encounters an unavoidable crime and the way he saves his family from getting arrested just by playing his intelligent mind game is worth a watch.

Ugly

This is another gripping suspense thriller of Bollywood. Ugly directed by Anurag Kashyap starring Ronit Roy in lead is totally outstanding. It is a dark movie indeed where a 10-year-old girl goes missing. Ronit Roy is a top police officer who is in charge of the case and also happens to be the stepfather of the child. What is so interesting about the movie is its inner message, how we tend to overlook simple things in our life just to achieve bigger, thus making life much more complicated.

Kaun

Kaun is one of the underrated brilliant thriller movies of Bollywood by Ram Gopal Verma, starring the performer Urmila Matondkar. The movie is unconventional for its time. It was shot in one place in a single day frame without making a rush to the story. The story builds up at it on pace carrying along the nerves of the viewers. Urmila Matondkar playing a role of a lonely girl in a big house and much scared of being attacked by strangers, after hearing about a serial killer in town. The way the movie takes its turn will make you go numb with every twist. The immensely breathtaking performances by Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpayee, and Sushant Singh is sure to scare you for long.

These were some of my favorite Bollywood thriller movies. Let me know which one do you like.
